  DESCRIPTION     The J-317C is a dual heterodyne FM translator, not a converted exciter or baseband unit. The received input signal is converted down to a 10.7 MHz IF where filtering and limiting is accomplished. The signal is then converted to the new output frequency and amplified up to the desired output power level. The modulation characteristics of the translated signal are not modified in any way.
    This unit utilizes a tuned MOSFET input amplifier for superb intermodulation performance, 5 stages of tuned RF amplification, 3 stages of ceramic IF filtering, two independent AGC loops, 100 dB of limiting gain, and positive muting action. The RF output power is regulated for signal variation and line voltage changes. The output power stage is protected in the event of serious load changes by a power reduction circuit. For satalator use or to insert locally originated announcements, an optional built-in audio exciter (modulator) is available. A high quality demodulated output is included for subabudible tone controls and monitoring. A stereo generator with audio processing is available for use with the exciter.
    The J-317C differs from the U.S. version in two ways. For use in Canada, special group delay corrected IF filters must be used. Also, additional harmonic filtering is needed to conform to the stringent harmonic suppression requirements. Modular construction permits ease of access to all components for service, test and part replacement. High quality, commonly available parts are used throughout. All units are environmentally tested at the factory under operating conditions. Many automated performance related measurements are made while under environmental test conditions An accurate test data sheet is shipped with each unit for verification and future reference The warranty covers all parts and workmanship for a period of one year.
    This translator model is ideal for solar powered sites due to it's low power consumption. DC option (28VDC) available upon request. A DC/DC converter is available: DC-40.
